Background Information

JIM ROUGH ... is a business consultant who specializes in helping people to think at their best, collaboratively and creatively. He is the originator of Dynamic Facilitation and for almost 20 years principal seminar leader of the Dynamic Facilitation seminars. He is also originator of the Wisdom Council, which uses Dynamic Facilitation to assure that people think at their best in organizations, communities and other large systems of people.

Jim's work has important implications for transforming the public sphere. He is initiator and co-founder of the nonprofit organization The Center for Wise Democracy, which supports citizen and government groups to use Dynamic Facilitation and the Wisdom Council processes to transform communities, cities and organizaions.

Jim is the the author of the book, "Society’s Breakthrough! Releasing Essential Wisdom and Virtue in All the People," which one reviewer called, "one of the hundred most important books available in English.” Jim is a frequent speaker in conferences and produces a web access TV channel, called the Wise Democracy Channel. Before founding Jim Rough & Associates, Inc. in 1985, Jim worked as an internal consultant within Boeing, Xerox, IBM, and Simpson Timber Company. His education includes a B.A. in physics from Occidental College, M.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Columbia University and years of independent study in Jungian psychology.
